WALTHAM, Mass., July 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Black Hat USA 2015 attendees are invited to join Bit9® + Carbon Black®, the leader in endpoint threat prevention, detection and response, at booth 735 for hourly product demonstrations, informative presentations, interactive activities, and more during the global information security conference August 5 - 6, 2015, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
"A new generation of threats is attacking organizations' endpoints and servers," said Bit9 + Carbon Black Chief Marketing Officer Eric Schurr. "Businesses need a modern defense to keep their data and intellectual property—including customer information—out of the hands of today's relentless attackers. Traditional endpoint security solutions, such as antivirus, don't see or stop targeted attacks, and don't help with incident response. And if an attack bypasses network security, an organizations endpoints will be compromised.
"Black Hat attendees who want to arm their endpoints so they can easily see and immediately stop advanced threats will be able to get the answers they're seeking from the Bit9 + Carbon Black team throughout the conference," said Schurr.
Special presentations in booth 735 include:
-
"Detection and Response Innovations with Carbon Black"—Chief Security Strategist Ben Johnson, Wednesday, 1:00 p.m.
-
"Threat Hunting Tips and Tactics"—Senior Threat Researcher Mike Sconzo, Wednesday, 3:00 p.m.
-
A first-of-its-kind integration of Carbon Black ETDR and Infoblox DNS Firewall [see news release]—demonstration presented by Infoblox Senior Consulting Engineer—Security, Jamison Utter, Bit9 + Carbon Black's Ben Johnson, and Optiv AVP, Solution Architecture, Chad Whitney, on Thursday, 1:00 p.m.
- Open and Extensible Security: A GitHub / API demonstration—Ben Johnson, Thursday, 3:00 p.m.
Johnson also will present "Tailored Attacks Require Tailored Defenses: Improving Your Incident Response Strategy through Advanced Threat Hunting" in Business Hall Theater B on Wednesday, August 5 at 3:00 p.m.
About the Session: Keeping the bad guys out is a hard problem; finding them once they're in is even harder. The difficulty further increases when adversaries gain valid credentials and immediately become insiders. Once insiders, they can add accounts, hide in the noise, and accomplish their goals by using built-in tools and executables. How do you start defending yourself against this and have some resiliency? We'll discuss the threat landscape, trends of attackers and how you can start to proactively hunt these threats to reduce the scope of incidents.
Bit9 + Carbon Black at DEF CON
Following Black Hat, Bit9 + Carbon Black will be represented at DEF CON 23, which takes place at Paris & Bally's in Las Vegas, by Mike Sconzo, who will deliver the presentation "I Am Packer and So Can You" on Friday, August 7, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. Check the onsite event guide for the location of Sconzo's talk.
About the Session: Automating packer and compiler/toolchain detection can be tricky and best and downright frustrating at worst. The majority of existing solutions are old, closed source or aren't cross platform. Originally, a method of packer identification that leveraged some text analysis algorithms was presented. The goal is to create a method to identify compilers and packers based on the structural changes they leave behind in PE files. This iteration builds upon previous work of using assembly mnemonics for packer detection and grouping. New features and analysis are covered for identification and clustering of PE files.
