CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Aug 4, 2015) - NCSBN CEO Kathy Apple MS, RN, FAAN, will be presented with the NLN President's Award by NLN president Marsha Howell Adams, PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN, ANEF, at the opening session of the NLN Education Summit on Sept. 30, 2015.
The prestigious NLN President's Award reflects the priority the NLN gives to publicly recognizing leadership at a time and place designed to convey its importance to the widest possible audience of colleagues and peers in nursing education. Apple joins a long list of distinguished individuals previously presented with this honor.
Apple remarks, "I am both honored and humbled by this award. I value how the NLN's passion for excellence in nursing education and NCSBN's passion for excellence in nursing regulation have come together to ensure a safe and competent nursing workforce."
Apple, who will retire from NCSBN at the end of September 2015, has worked diligently to support the important work of U.S. boards of nursing (BONs), steadfastly promoting the mandate to protect the public through the regulation of nursing practice at the state, national and international levels. She is being recognized by the NLN because of what Dr. Adams cited as her achievements that "complement both the NLN's core values of caring, integrity, diversity and excellence, and our mission to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of our nation and the global community."
About NCSBN
Founded March 15, 1978, as an independent not-for-profit organization, NCSBN, www.ncsbn.org, was created to lessen the burdens of state governments and bring together boards of nursing (BONs) to act and counsel together on matters of common interest. NCSBN's membership is comprised of the BONs in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories -- American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands. There are also 21 associate members that are either nursing regulatory bodies or empowered regulatory authorities from other countries or territories.
NCSBN Member Boards protect the public by ensuring that safe and competent nursing care is provided by licensed nurses. These BONs regulate more than 4.5 million licensed nurses.
Mission: NCSBN provides education, service and research through collaborative leadership to promote evidence-based regulatory excellence for patient safety and public protection.
The statements and opinions expressed are those of NCSBN and not the individual member state or territorial boards of nursing.
