MONTREAL, Aug. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced today that industry veteran Phil Peterson has been named technology advisor. As part of his mandate, Peterson will evaluate and make recommendations for technology development relating to the company’s current and future products.

Phil Peterson has been in key technical roles at leading studios for more than 20 years. He has served as the head of R&D at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), head of technology for Lucasfilm Animation in the US and Singapore, and as both Principal Engineer and Chief Architect for ILM/Lucasfilm. Phil was Chief Technology Officer at Digital Domain and also served as SVP and CTO at ImageMovers Digital (a division of the Walt Disney Studios). He holds both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science and is the recipient of an Academy Award® for Technical Achievement. A member of the Visual Effects Society and a SIGGRAPH Pioneer, Phil works with the Digital Imaging Technology Subcommittee for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Scientific and Technical Awards, and recently he co-chaired DigiPro 2015, the Digital Production Symposium.
