MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2015) - The Sequoia Project, formerly known as Healtheway, announced today that Dawn Van Dyke, an experienced healthcare IT marketing professional, has joined the organization in a newly created marketing director role. Charged with elevating the national reach and influence of The Sequoia Project, Van Dyke will oversee marketing and public relations strategies, in addition to healthcare industry education.
"It's an exciting opportunity to work on a cause I believe in," said Van Dyke. "The Sequoia Project advocates for secure, interoperable health information exchange, and by joining this team and doing my job well, I have the chance to positively impact the healthcare experience of people throughout the country."
Van Dyke has more than 10 years of communications and marketing experience across many industries, including healthcare, e-commerce, political advocacy and transportation. Her expertise includes effective marketing strategy development, comprehensive campaign planning, and leveraging emerging media to reach target audiences.
The Sequoia Project will tap Van Dyke's expertise to build on the success of the eHealth Exchange and Carequality, as well as to help launch new initiatives. She will be engaged directly with Sequoia's members to expand awareness of the organizations activities and the many ways that members can participate and collaborate with each other.
"Interoperability is finally reaching a critical mass in the U.S., with many organizations making real progress toward achieving nationwide data exchange. Yet one of the most significant challenges the industry still faces is lack of awareness about the progress and opportunities in this area," said Mariann Yeager, CEO of The Sequoia Project. "One of the most important services The Sequoia Project can provide is expanding awareness -- not just about our work, but about the work of the many organizations working to solve the interoperability challenge. Dawn is going to be a powerful ally in overcoming the information gap, and we're excited to have her on the team."
Prior to joining The Sequoia Project, Van Dyke most recently was an associate director of strategic marketing at The Advisory Board Company. There she worked on specific interoperability solutions, including electronic medical referrals.
