Central Falls, RI Public Schools First in State to Implement COPsync911

Alert System To Be Available in All of Central Falls' Public Schools for the Fall 2015 School Year

CENTRAL FALLS, RI, Sept. 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The City of Central Falls, RI public schools will be the first in the state to implement the COPsync911 alert system, announced the Office of Mayor James A. Diossa, in tandem with COPsync, Inc. (OTCQB: COYN), which operates the nation's largest law enforcement real-time, in-car information sharing, communication and data interoperability network. The system will be installed in city schools starting in the fall 2015 school year.

The COPsync911 system is activated by school staff when a threatening situation arises, and allows the staff to send an immediate and silent alert to all other staff, the local law enforcement dispatch center, all patrol cars and on-duty law enforcement officers, even if they are away from their patrol car.

The system can inform patrol officers of the threat faster than dialing 9-1-1; hence, they arrive on the scene quicker and equipped with up-to-the-minute situational information about the unfolding violence.

Through the service, officers receive the threat alerts directly to the computers in their patrol cars. They can then immediately access a map to see the location of the school, and view a diagram of the building's interior so no time is wasted determining the exact location of the threat. The school staff, the responding officers and the local dispatcher communicate about the incident as it unfolds via a "Crisis Communications Portal." Thus, when arriving on the scene, officers are equipped with up-to-the-minute situational information, which helps them develop an effective tactical response plan. The COPsync911 threat alert system can save minutes, when seconds count.

"The rollout of COPsync911 in Central Falls reflects the city's commitment to implementing innovative technologies, especially when it can help ensure the safety of our students and teachers," said Mayor Diossa. "We believe this rollout illustrates the strong level of cooperation that exists among our school district, our law enforcement officers, and our citizens to secure this goal."

"Nobody can pick up a newspaper these days and not come away concerned for the need to improve the safety of schools," said Victor Capellan, superintendent of the Central Falls School District. "The COPsync911 alert system is a proactive tool designed to help us deal with a broad range of situations that can occur on school grounds. These not only include violent incidents but also urgent situations such as sick students or teachers, fires and other emergencies. The system also allows school districts to effectively mitigate the risk of liability they might face in the wake of such incidents."

"Having the COPsync911 system in place will significantly reduce the time required for police to respond to a critical incident at Central Falls' public schools, and will help coordinate the response effort among school staff, dispatchers and officers," said Col. James J. Mendonca, Chief of Police of the Central Falls Police Department. "This system significantly enhances the ability of officers dedicated to protecting our schools to do so in a timely and effective manner."

"By joining the COPsync911 network, Central Falls adds to the growing list of municipalities in the northeastern United States, including in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, that have done so. This inaugurates the presence of the COPsync technology in the state of Rhode Island," said Brandon Flanagan, CEO of Brandon-COPsync, LLC. "We look forward to continuing our expansion outside of Texas with our growth in the Northeast and elsewhere in the U.S." Brandon-COPsync, LLC, a distributor in selected U.S. regions of products and services developed by COPsync, secured the installation agreement with the City of Central Falls.
