CHICAGO, Sept. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SingleHop, a leading provider of on-demand managed hosting and hosted private clouds, today announced its ColoPlus™ offering, which enables organizations using its colocation data center services to enhance their existing infrastructure with free private cloud services from SingleHop. All SingleHop colocation customers will be set up with a virtual private cloud to use at no charge, giving them the ability to move workloads to the cloud as needed, spinning up and down an unlimited number of virtual servers on the fly. As a result, customers are able to decrease latency, meet capacity needs on demand, and better manage IT resources.
In addition, SingleHop is offering a second service free of charge - either 100GB of storage-area network (SAN) resources or one terabyte of cloud-based backup through Veeam Cloud Connect.
Since SingleHop's acquisition of Datagram earlier this year, many of its newly acquired colocation customers have expressed interest in leveraging the scalability and flexibility of cloud infrastructure. With this offering, colocation customers can easily embrace cloud as a complementary component of their IT strategy without increasing their cost.
"There is no one-size-fits-all cloud. Every organization has a unique combination of IT environments that must work together. So SingleHop has focused on delivering solutions that empower the modern IT department to support a broad spectrum of technology," said Jordan Jacobs, VP of products, SingleHop. "Our hybrid cloud offerings are another point of leadership in providing practical cloud solutions that work for real businesses."
The offering underscores SingleHop's commitment to providing hybrid cloud options across dedicated and virtual environments whether built on private cloud, public cloud, baremetal or colocation equipment. In fact, SingleHop's vision and ability to execute its cloud solutions led to the company being positioned as an industry player in the Gartner 2015 Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Enabled Managed Services.
Supporting Global Adoption of Hybrid Cloud
Industry analyst firm IDC predicts that more than 65% of enterprise IT organizations will commit to hybrid cloud technologies before 2016, vastly driving the rate and pace of change in IT organizations. This adoption occurs within a global cloud market – including private, public and hybrid cloud – that IDC reports to have reached $95.8 billion in 2014 and predicts will hit $118 billion in 2015 and crest at $200 billion by 2018.
Better Flexibility through Server Virtualization
The ability to virtualize servers maximizes hardware usage, ultimately reducing costs and complexity. Leveraging a SingleHop virtual private cloud provides resilience against downtime, which a customer may experience with colocated equipment. It also allows customers to deliver capacity to users using existing IT policies for security and compliance. Customers further benefit from a 24x7x365 proactively managed cloud environment.
Leveraging the Benefits of SAN without the Cost
Utilizing SingleHop's SAN resources eliminates the time-consuming, involved process of businesses having to estimate capacity requirements and source SAN storage equipment. It also removes the cost-barrier for customers who often find that an entry-level SAN may start at $100,000 or more, keeping them from leveraging the advanced load balancing, backup and disaster recovery capabilities of SAN.
With this offering, customers are up and running on SingleHop's SAN immediately without the need to source or configure anything on their own.
Storage-agnostic Backup Extends Protection
Customers can also elect to leverage SingleHop's Veeam-powered backup to extend data protection outside of the data center. Through Veeam Cloud Connect, SingleHop provides an efficient, simple conduit to industry-leading data protection through an off-site repository accessible right from the Veeam console. The solution supports both VMware and Hyper-V platforms and is designed to be fully operational within minutes.
Using SingleHop's Backup as a Service, companies are able to outsource critical tasks and meet long-term retention requirements without the need to assess storage requirements, purchase and maintain equipment, or get bogged down in infrastructure management.
Use Cases
SingleHop's ColoPlus offering allows customers to share data across the company's five data centers in the U.S. and Europe. Sample use cases include:
- Disaster Recovery services via Zerto
- A secure test bed for applications in a non-production environment
- Extending the corporate network to the cloud
