Norwich adds two programs to online bachelor's degree completion offerings

Working adults looking to finish their undergraduate college degree now have two new programs to choose from through Norwich University's online programs.

NORTHFIELD, VT., Sept. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Norwich University's College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) has launched two online degree completion programs, the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Bachelor of Science in Management Studies. Set to begin their first trimester in January, the programs spotlight both Norwich's commitment to academic excellence and meeting the student demand by expanding its online degree program offerings.

CGCS now offers five online bachelor's degree completion programs: criminal justice, cyber security, interdisciplinary studies, management studies, and strategic studies and defense analysis. The programs are tailored to serve working adults looking to advance or transition their career.

"One of the key things to me for having a Norwich education was the name that comes with it and there's pride and tradition that comes with having a Norwich University diploma," said Julie Scribner, who recently graduated from the online Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. "You can get a criminal justice degree from any online school, but Norwich is the school that has the education and the faculty that can really make you stand out."

The two new programs will add to the growing success of Norwich's online bachelor's portfolio. Nearly 600 students are currently enrolled in the online bachelor's programs, including the first cohort of students in Norwich's online cyber security program.

"The management studies and interdisciplinary studies programs open opportunities for Norwich University to reach a broader audience of working adults, who wish to complete a baccalaureate by providing the skills and knowledge foundation to become successful leaders in their fields," William Clements, dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies said.

Norwich's online interdisciplinary studies program focuses on developing essential skills for the workplace through enhancing research and analysis abilities, developing innovative solutions to problems and communicating effectively. The program is designed to benefit students of all backgrounds as the curriculum is structured to provide a framework for professional success.

The new online management studies program takes a similar approach in honing skills needed to be a good and effective manager. The curriculum will help prepare students in the work force – public, private or military – for mid- to high-level management positions.

As with all Norwich bachelor's degree completion programs, the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies assesses each student's prior learning and training to determine how it may be applied towards his or her degree. The goal is to help students get the most out of their Norwich education, while accelerating their bachelor's degree completion timeline when possible.

In addition to the core curriculum and electives, students choose a concentration in a specialized area of study. The interdisciplinary program allows for customization with three concentration offerings: justice studies, leadership studies or strategic studies. The management studies curriculum map has focus areas in leadership studies or human resource management.

The online interdisciplinary studies and management studies programs start three times throughout the year – January, May and September. For more information, please visit www.online.norwich.edu/admissions/bachelors-admissions.
