Spruce Meadows Oktoberfest 5K Run
Saturday, Oct. 3
1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Spruce Meadows -- 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW
Spruce Meadows is celebrating their 40th year with 40 kilometers! This 5K run and walk, and more competitive 10K run, supports the Calgary Food Bank through pledges on the Running Room website. In addition to pledges, people can also donate non-perishable food and funds on site. Traditional Oktoberfest celebrations will also take place, such as beer gardens and live music, after the run!

Calgary Farmer's Market Annual Pie Bake Off
Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Calgary Farmer's Market -- 510, 77 Avenue SE
At this year's annual Pie Bake Off, four vendors -- Yum Bakery, A Taste of Quebec, Innisfail Growers and Simple Simon Pies -- are going head-to-head in a competition for the prestigious title of Best Pie! With a donation to the Calgary Food Bank, market-goers can sample the different (and delicious) pies, vote for their favourite and enter their name into the draw for a huge gift basket full of Thanksgiving goodies from the market. Celebrate Thanksgiving the delicious way!

Fall for East Village Charity Pumpkin Patch

Fall for East Village is a harvest and food truck festival celebrating everything fall. Local vendors and entertainment will line up at St. Patrick's Island for the ultimate autumn celebration. But what says fall more than pumpkins? In between leaf pile jumping and food truck snacking, Calgarians can stop by the charity pumpkin patch to make a donation to the Calgary Food Bank -- it is Thanksgiving, after all!

Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival
Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17
Friday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Wine and food lovers are invited to indulge in the 18th Annual Calgary Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival! In addition to the distinguished collection of wines, spirits, scotches, ports, specialty liqueurs, beers and delicious local delicacies, festival-goers are encouraged to bring donations -- either funds or non-perishable food -- to the Calgary Food Bank! All donors will receive a special prize ballot for their chance to win a fantastic prize package!

Calgary Zombie Walk
Saturday, Oct. 17

Olympic Plaza -- 228 8 Avenue SE (ending at Millennium Park -- 1220 9 Ave SW)
On Oct. 17, don't be frightened if you see ravenous zombies limping down the streets of downtown Calgary! The 10th annual Zombie walk is not only encouraging people to come dressed for the part of brain-mangling undead, but to also give back to their community! Non-perishable food donations and funds are accepted by the Calgary Food Bank prior to the walk.

Zombie Evasion Run
Saturday, Oct. 24
1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
North Glenmore Park -- 66 Avenue SW and 37 Street SW
Zombies, Zombies everywhere! The Calgary Zombie Evasion is a chip-timed 5km individual and team event that encourages donation to the Calgary Food Bank for better chances of coming out a winner. Individuals and teams who make it through the course with flags left, finish "alive!" If the zombies take all the flags, and individual become infected and will finish as a part of the "undead." Donating to the Calgary Food Bank gives more flags, and a better chance to come out unscathed.

Haunted Calgary
Friday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Nov. 1

Calgary's largest yard haunt is returning again this year, scaring all those who dare enter! Donations to the Calgary Food Bank, both non-perishable food and funds, will be accepted at the door.

Thrill Calgary
Saturday, Oct. 24
Southcentre Mall Centre Court -- 100 Anderson Road SE
2 p.m. to 4:20 p.m.
Come Thrill the World at this year's Thrill Calgary, an annual simultaneous world-wide dance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller!" This giant flash mob will get you moving in support of the Calgary Food Bank. Food and cash donations will be accepted at the event. Each year, the goal is to set a new world record for numbers of people dancing. The current record is the 2009 event -- the year Michael Jackson passed away -- with 22,923 participants.

eScrap Hunger
Saturday, Oct. 17
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Looking to finally clean up your old or unused electronics? Don't send your old televisions, computers, monitors, printers and other e-waste items to the landfill! Come to the Calgary Food Bank parking lot and recycle your electronics for free in exchange for a food donation. Help the environment and the community in one visit!
