Paragon Software Systems' Operations Guide Wins ISTC Award

The award, which is given in recognition of communicating scientific or technical information effectively through the use of videos, demos, interactive content or other multimedia, follows a rewrite of the guide to ensure that Paragon customers can access quality information in a format that people really want to use.

The Paragon Systems Operations Guide was rewritten following research into what customers really want to see in a user guide. One of the key challenges is ensuring that its documentation satisfies multiple levels of users, from seasoned schedulers to recent graduates getting started in transportation planning. Content is written in a logical structure, with each user guide aimed at a different category of user, complete with visually appealing, yet comprehensive information including:

• Short videos with simple examples sit alongside the text
• Interactive "Quick Steps" offering a visual popup tool to help users navigate
• Interactive diagrams allowing users to intuitively move between different topics
• Expanding images showing additional detail while offering more in-depth descriptions in text

Paragon's software documentation and online help is distributed with the installation CD. Users can install it on any workstation or server. From seasoned transportation schedulers to new professionals in transportation planning, customers can quickly find information that is relevant to their understanding and skip over what they don't need with the help of special visual signposts, such as icons and heading levels.
