NEEDHAM, Mass., Oct. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EH&E, a leading provider of environmental and engineering consulting services, will receive the 2015 Preservation Achievement Award from the Boston Preservation Alliance. EH&E is a member of the project team selected to receive this award for the restoration of The Arlington, a historic building in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Arlington, constructed in 1927, was originally the headquarters for the Boston Consolidated Gas Company. Over the years, the building has also been occupied by UMass Boston and the Boston Renaissance Charter School. The goal of the restoration project was to transform the vacant 13-story building into luxury residential apartment units with ground-floor retail space – and to restore the building's surviving historic features.
EH&E served an integral role in the restoration of The Arlington, working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure that the building met rigorous compliance requirements and achieved EPA's highest level of cleanliness and safety for residential occupancy. "It was great to be involved in the transformation of this historic Boston landmark," says Cindee Campisano, Project Executive / Senior Scientist at EH&E. "It was a challenging project and all the members of the team were top-notch, taking the utmost care in the renovation and delivering high-end work to preserve the unique characteristics of The Arlington."
EH&E and all the members of the project team will receive the award at a ceremony hosted by the Boston Preservation Alliance on October 27, 2015, at Emerson College's Cutler Majestic Theater. For 25 years, the Boston Preservation Alliance has presented Preservation Achievement Awards to people and projects that demonstrate the highest level of commitment to Boston's historic character.
