EAST LANSING, MI--(Marketwired - Oct 27, 2015) - Biophotonic Solutions Inc. (BSI), the world leader in automated laser pulse compression, has hired Dr. Vittorio Fossati-Bellani as its chief executive officer (CEO).
"We are excited that such a well-known industry mover and shaker in the areas of ultrafast lasers and industrial lasers has joined our ranks and will lead the company as our technology expands in both scientific and industrial applications," said Dr. Marcos Dantus, BSI founder and chief technology officer.
Vittorio Fossati-Bellani was most recently a consultant to companies in the photonics industry, advising on the photovoltaics, electrical storage, sensing and medical markets, as well as providing guidance on equity partnerships and acquisitions. In this role, he also served as acting CEO for NP Photonics and vice president of marketing for AdValue Photonics. Prior, he held senior executive positions at Laser Operations, Pyrophotonics, and DILAS. In addition, Fossati-Bellani spent more than 25 years working at Coherent, holding leadership positions that included chief marketing officer, and president and general manager of the company's semiconductor group.
"I'm looking forward to working with the BSI team and am very impressed with the possibilities that MIIPS technology offers in making femtosecond lasers more effective in scientific and industrial applications," said Fossati-Bellani.
Originally invented by the Dantus Research Group at Michigan State University, MIIPS is a proprietary BSI technology that provides automated ultrafast laser pulse measurement, compression, and shaping in real time, so users can deliver optimized laser pulses to the target on demand. By allowing a new level of laser output consistency and ease of use, BSI aims to enable cost-effective femtosecond laser deployment in a wide range of industrial, scientific and medical settings.
