SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - November 18, 2015) - Tech CU (Technology Credit Union) announced today it will be the first credit union in the U.S. to partner with Stockpile, a company that has made it easy and affordable to buy stock or gift stock to others. Tech CU members can purchase fractional shares of stock or ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) in many of the world's largest companies for any amount they feel comfortable with, beginning as low as one dollar.
These stock purchases can be used for a variety of purposes, including employee incentives or gifts for the holidays and special events, such as the birth of a child or graduation. Members can gift as little as $1 worth of stock and as much as $1,000.
"This is an innovative partnership that makes buying stock accessible to anyone," said Tech CU's SVP of Wealth Management, Rebecca Matteson Nelson. "It can be a first step for many who want to be more knowledgeable about stock investing or who want to help a loved one by opening a custodial account for their future. It's also a great tool for teaching financial literacy."
Whether purchasing stock for yourself or gifting to another, the process can be done within minutes using a debit or credit card. Members can go to Tech CU's web site to learn more. They'll be able to choose from hundreds of brand-name companies, including every stock in the S&P 500 (Facebook, Paypal, Tesla, Whole Foods and more), ETF's and stocks in foreign companies such as Porsche.
A personalized gift card can be printed or sent to the recipient via email. And, members can just as easily buy stock for themselves by setting up their own brokerage account. Individuals can hold on to their stock, track its progress, buy more or sell it for cash.
"Stockpile is proud to partner with Tech CU to allow all of their members an easy and affordable way to access the U.S. stock market," said Dan Schatt, chief commercial officer for Stockpile. "We look forward to delighting Tech CU members and making it easier than ever for them to save and invest."
