LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KentuckyWired Middle Mile Project, the Commonwealth’s broadband initiative aimed at enhancing public services and increasing statewide internet access, today announced a new website to keep citizens updated on the project and answer questions about how they may be affected by construction.
The website’s address is www.kentuckywiredproject.com.
It will feature news about project milestones and information about the network benefits. The site will list contact information for residents and answer frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the network’s build-out.
The KentuckyWired Middle Mile Project is being deployed through a public-private partnership between the Commonwealth and a team that includes Macquarie Capital, Ledcor Group of Companies, First Solutions and Black & Veatch. Construction of the network will be performed by a joint venture of Ledcor and Overland Contracting Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Black & Veatch.
“Residents and business owners can now learn more about how the project will affect them and improve the Commonwealth’s quality of life,” said Dean Siegrist, associate vice president for Black & Veatch’s telecommunications business. “Citizens can get answers to common questions or determine who to contact for assistance as this vital project rolls out across Kentucky.”
KentuckyWired will offer some of the fastest broadband capacity in the United States. It will help raise the Commonwealth’s global profile and expand information access for educators, students, businesses and citizens. First responders will also have improved communication during emergencies.
