BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 18, 2015) - PALMco, a family owned and operated energy supply company, announced today that its commitment to DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit crowd funding platform where teachers can request classroom resources, has reached its fundraising goal of $25,000. The campaign reached over 11,500 students, completed funding for over 120 projects, and mobilized nearly 350 donors to contribute with PALMco matching each dollar. PALMco's latest commitment brings the total contributions to DonorsChoose.org projects to $75,000, all in support of local education initiatives in the communities that are served by the energy company.
In August 2015, PALMco launched a "Double Your Impact" fundraising campaign through DonorsChoose.org with a maximum goal of $25,000. PALMco elected projects with an environmental science theme costing $800 or less from schools in low-income communities in Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. When projects were halfway funded by individual donors, PALMco's donation would complete the funding request.
This is the third commitment in a partnership between DonorsChoose.org and PALMco. With combined donations totaling $75,000, PALMco has reached over 30,000 students by mobilizing nearly 900 additional donors throughout the seven states in which they serve. By using the "Double Your Impact" model, other individuals are encouraged to make contributions knowing that its effect will multiply with PALMco's matching commitment.

"Before my classroom received the donation, we just threw all recyclable materials in a paper box. Now my students are more aware of things that can be recycled and how recycling benefits our environment," said Cheryl Swierz, a teacher of adolescents with severe cognitive disabilities who also received desired materials through PALMco's donation. "Thanks to PALMco and DonorsChoose, my students have learned to apply recycling to their daily life skills and hopefully these skills will last a lifetime."
