Skocik Chiropractic Gets Involved in Community by Participating in Toys for Tots

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Skocik Chiropractic will be participating in this year's Toys for Tots charity giveaway. The clinic will serve as a drop off spot between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Nov. 2 with the final day being Dec. 2. While dropping off toys, new patients can take advantage of receiving a complimentary preliminary spinal examination. The free examination consists of a neurological test, a spinal alignment check, a muscle test and a blood pressure test. New patients will also be able to have a private discussion with the doctor to go over the test results.

"Participating in Toys for Tots is a great way for us to get involved in the community," says Dr. Albert Skocik. "Besides being able to give gifts to children who might not otherwise receive gifts during the holidays, it's also a way for us to provide a preliminary spinal examination to new patients who happen to come by and drop off gifts. This exam is free of charge and will hopefully enable them to take the first step toward health and healing."

The Toys for Tots program was founded in 1947 by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a way to help less fortunate children enjoy the holiday season. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Toys for Tots also helps to unite members of local communities in a common cause while giving a message of hope. With 97 percent of donations going to the program's mission of providing books, toys and gifts to children who are less fortunate, Toys for Tots is a top-rated charity. Only three percent of donations goes toward fundraising and overhead costs. For those who would like to drop off toys at Skocik Chiropractic, there are a few stipulations when it comes to giving gifts. The program does not take realistic looking weapons nor gifts of food.
