EDISON, N.J., Dec. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edison chiropractor Dr. Kevin Giunta was featured on News12 NJ on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, discussing the benefits of Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) for drug-free pain relief and injury rehabilitation. Licensed Massage Therapist Leah Kleiner, who discussed the benefits of pediatric massage for children with behavioral issues, joined Dr. Giunta on News12 NJ. Both Dr. Guinta and Ms. Kleiner are part of the wellness care team at Backsmart Wellness Center, which offers injury rehabilitation, weight loss and wellness care services.
Chiropractor Dr. Kevin Giunta is working to raise awareness about the benefits of Active Release Technique (A.R.T.), a patented soft tissue system for relieving pain and helping patients heal following an injury. A.R.T. uses active motion and massage techniques to treat muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves after an injury.
“It’s not enough to simply treat a patient’s pain symptoms,” said Dr. Giunta. “Doing so is only addressing the superficial symptoms, not the root cause for pain. Chiropractic care and treatments like Active Release Technique are effective because they address the root cause for a patient’s pain. As a chiropractor, my job is to look at the whole body to find the cause of the problem and not just one body part.”
Dr. Giunta spoke about the benefits of Active Release Technique on News12 NJ. "I'm honored to have been on the show and to use this opportunity to raise awareness about the benefits of A.R.T.," said Dr. Giunta.
Joining Dr. Giunta on News12 NJ was Licensed Massage Therapist Leah Kleiner, who also is part of the wellness team at Backsmart Wellness Center. Ms. Kleiner addressed the benefits of pediatric massage therapy for children.
“Pediatric massage provides both relaxation and pain relief, as well as a sense of emotional stability for children, especially those who have been through trauma,” said Ms. Kleiner. “There are also specific massage techniques for children with growing pains or gastrointestinal issues.”
Ms. Kleiner has substantial experience with pediatric massage, including tailoring massage sessions to be fun, relaxing and enjoyable through the use of comfort play objects. “All children who receive nurturing touch from a young age are shown to thrive more as adults, both physically and emotionally,” said Ms. Kleiner. “With pediatric massage, my goal is to help children feel comfortable and confident in a safe setting.”
Ms. Kleiner graduated from The Institute for Therapeutic Massage. She is trained in medical massage techniques, including reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, chair massage and sports massage.
