NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It's that time of year again, when EarthCam fans await the announcement of the webcams that caught the world's attention in 2015. This year a super panel of judges had the difficult task of narrowing thousands of submitted cameras to 25 that represent the latest and greatest in webcam content. Who better to lead this panel than Mehcad Brooks, star of the CBS hit television show, Supergirl. From the Imam Reza Holy Shrine in Iran to the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem, the 25 Most Interesting Webcams of 2015 are the must-see end of year highlight.
Spanning 11 countries, this 17th annual list of webcams take viewers on a no holds barred virtual tour of everything unique, beautiful, exciting and sometimes, just plain weird. Float down the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, speed through the streets of Prague on the Tram Cam and head inside a bustling meat shop in Alpine, Wyoming. Experience the views from the Reunion Tower high above Dallas to underwater swimming with tropical fish in San Francisco. Follow progress at the construction sites of The New NY Bridge and the Daytona International Speedway and watch as these massive projects go from concept to completion.
Looking for relaxation in ultra-high quality 4K streaming video? Kick back with peaceful views of the beach in Naples, FL and breathtaking aerial views of the Notre Dame campus. Ever wonder what the dogs are up to after they've been dropped off at daycare? Check in on some paw-sitively adorable dogs at the Barkyard in Minnesota. Prefer less-standard four-legged friends? Go on safari at Camp Kuzuma in Botswana where local elephant herds will be talking over the watering hole or get up close and personal with Saarinen goats in Florida. Need more excitement? Just about anything can happen at the Delaware DMV, but don't expect it to happen at lightning speed.
"Each year, when we think we've seen it all, we come across new webcam content that is wildly impressive and unique," said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder. "Thank you to our judges for taking on the tough task of choosing these outstanding winners from a notable group of entries."
Led by Mehcad Brooks, the judging panel chose the top 25 list based on quality, uniqueness and overall achievements in webcam technology. Other judges include Eileen Whelan, Meteorologist and Feature Reporter for ABC7 in Washington, DC; Terrie Frankel, Composer and 'Doublemint Twin'; Chase Rynd, Executive Director for the National Building Museum; and Sasha Moskalyova, a 4th grader representing the 'Kid's Vote' – a newly added perspective to this year's panel.
This year's winners join past Top 25 winners such as: National September 11 Memorial & Museum, Aurora Borealis Sky Cam, Times Square, Tower Bridge of London, Nagoya Aquarium, Seattle Space Needle, Roach-O-Vision Cockroach House, Red Bull Stratos Space Jump and Star Wars Action Figure Cam.
