The Compact Syrp Genie Mini Is Now Available for Order at B&H Photo

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - December 22, 2015) - B&H Photo is pleased to announce that the Genie Mini, Syrp's compact and portable solution for creating panning time-lapse and real-time videos, can now be ordered online. Based in New Zealand, Syrp rose from the Kickstarter ranks to deliver its professional motion-control system, the Genie. At about a quarter of the size of the original Genie, the Genie Mini brings motion control into a compact and intuitive package, suitable for users of all experience levels. It is controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth using an iOS or Android device running the Syrp Genie App, enabling quick setup and intuitive operation.

Weighing only 8.1 ounces and small enough to fit into a cargo-pants pocket, the Genie Mini can fit into virtually any camera bag or even a coat pocket. Its internal motor provides 360-degree rotation with loads weighing up to 8.8 lb, making the Genie Mini suitable for a wide range of devices, from smartphones and action cameras to DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. The Genie Mini is powered using a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides approximately 40 hours of time-lapse motion and five hours of continuous panning motion on a single charge.

Using the App, you can set up the device to capture continuous panning motion or incremental movements for time-lapse videos. For continuous motion, the motor can complete a full 360-degree rotation in as fast as 33 seconds, with ease in/out features to ramp the movement and the beginning and end of the move. When capturing time-lapse motion, an optional sync cable is required to connect the compatible camera to the Genie Mini's 2.5mm camera control port.

When you're ready to graduate to more complex motion, the Genie Mini can be used in conjunction with the Genie and a Magic Carpet slider to create dynamic two-axis moves. A future firmware update is planned that will allow two Genie Minis to be paired together via Bluetooth, enabling pan-and-tilt motion control using an optional bracket. Once the two units are paired, you'll be able to control them both from the Syrp Genie App.
