MONTREAL, QC--(Marketwired - Jan 4, 2016) - Mighty Cast, creators of the first modular smartband, announces today the Nex Band has expanded capabilities into the Internet of Things (IoT) to be used as a controller for your smart world. Mighty Cast's patented band turns your wrist into a universal controller for your devices with the interchangeable Mods acting as five programmable buttons. Users create Hacks within the Nex app to set up what each Mod will control, whether it be your smart lighting system, your entertainment system, home appliances or any other smart device.
The Nex Band launched as the first modular wearable that uses interchangeable Mods to provide social, gaming and mobile notifications. By introducing Hacks, Mighty Cast has created a simple programming shortcut that unlocks an infinite number of other creative uses for the Nex Band, like assigning one Mod to display notifications from a friend. The Mods also act as containers, holding photos, videos or personal notes that can be traded with friends to share hacks and content.
Mighty Cast recently partnered with IFTTT, which opens the door for your Mods to do virtually anything. For example, users can create hacks for the connected home to open garage doors, start your coffee maker, and adjust the temperature of your home, by simply tapping a Mod.
"Current wearables have an average engagement of a few months because they are either single function devices or users can't add new features to their bands," said Adam Adelman, CEO and Co-founder of Mighty Cast. "Expanding into IoT gives our users yet another opportunity to customize and make their own wearable experience. We want our users to unleash their inner maker and invent custom actions to connect and control their world right from their wrists."
The Nex Band (including five Mods) comes in two sizes (small/medium and medium/large) and two colors (black and white) and is available for pre-order for $99.
