New Sales Record at Volkswagen Canada

AJAX, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 5, 2016) - Volkswagen Canada posted its best-ever December after sales of 4,508 new cars and light trucks during the month. This represents a 3% increase over the same month last year. In total, 2015 sales of 70,344 bested the previous record of 65,677 (set last year) by 7%, and marked the first time the brand has sold in excess of 70,000 units in Canada.

The top-selling vehicle in the lineup for the month; and the year, was the Jetta sedan, with sales of 1,411 for the month. Its 27,719 sales for the year made it the 6^th best-selling car in Canada. Sales of the Golf family, including the Golf Hatchback, Golf Sportwagon, Golf GTI and Golf R totaled 1,615 in December, and 20,515 for all of 2015. The Golf is also among the top-selling cars nationwide.

For 2016, Volkswagen will be revealing special editions of its popular Beetle and Beetle Convertible at upcoming autoshows in Montréal and Toronto.
