SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Apigee® (NASDAQ:APIC), developer of an intelligent API platform for digital business, today announced that it has been selected by OEConnection LLC (OEC), the leading parts ecommerce technology provider for OEM distribution networks, to provide the API management for MyPriceLink, OEC’s new API-powered technology built to deliver real-time, dynamic pricing on original equipment (OE) replacement parts to the automotive marketplace.
OEC’s patent-pending MyPriceLink technology promises to revolutionize OEM parts list pricing in the automotive industry. While list pricing for OEM auto parts has typically been delivered to the marketplace (including collision estimating and dealer management systems among others) on a static, once-a-month basis, OEC’s MyPriceLink uses a scalable API to provide online, real-time and dynamic OEM pricing on GM collision parts based on timing and local market conditions - the first known solution of this kind for the auto industry.
OEC is leveraging the Apigee Edge API management software to provide the API security, scale and analytics required for the new service to deliver real-time automotive parts pricing to automotive dealers, collision shops, fleets, independent adjusters and insurance companies throughout the United States.
“From the beginning, a core element of the OEC mission has been to make it easier for our customers to locate, buy and sell replacement auto parts at competitive prices,” stated Kathy Golden, executive vice president & chief technology officer for OEC. “We started by connecting dealers with other dealers, then dealers to their wholesale customers and consumers. Now, by leveraging our API strategy and Apigee, our technology has advanced to the point where we can help OEMs provide real-time dynamic pricing to the entire vertical market. We believe this is revolutionary for our industry.”
Apigee’s intelligent API platform helps businesses accelerate the pace at which they innovate, share their data and services, and adapt to rapidly changing customer and market needs. Apigee’s flagship Apigee Edge API management software empowers organizations to securely deliver and manage APIs, with agility and at scale. Apigee Edge is part of the Apigee intelligent API platform, which also includes Apigee Insights, an API-based, self-service predictive analytics solution, and Apigee Link, an API-first Internet of Things (IoT) product for connecting devices to the Internet. Most recently, Apigee introduced Apigee Sense, an intelligent API security product.
“Digital disruption is happening everywhere – in every industry across the globe – even traditional industries,” said Ed Anuff, Apigee senior vice president of strategy. “We are thrilled to be working with OEC to bring twenty-first century innovation to the OEM marketplace and help the entire industry operate faster, safer and smarter with APIs.”
