Language Access Network Releases Next Generation Platform

Martti™ Certified Video Medical Interpretation Now Accessible on Billions of Devices

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 03, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Language Access Network (LAN) has launched the next generation of its video medical interpretation platform with the introduction of the Martti™ app. The new app works on all Windows, Android and iOS devices and serves as an extension of the original PC-based Martti (My Accessible Real-Time Trusted Interpreter) technology.

The Martti app enhances access to LAN’s live, certified video medical interpreters and helps partner hospitals ensure an equal standard of care for their Limited English Proficient and Deaf/Hard of Hearing patients. Nearly 60 languages (including American Sign Language) are available in live video and 250 languages are available via audio anywhere, anytime on billions of devices. There are currently 2.6 billion smartphone subscriptions globally and that number is projected to approach 6.1 billion by 2020 according to the latest annual Mobility Report from Ericsson.

In addition to being available on all platforms, the Martti app is always up-to-date with the latest functionality and security upgrades being installed automatically. The new app maintains LAN’s trademark ease-of-use and provides a high-quality, high-definition experience with just a single touch. The result is more effective medical interpretation, better care and improved patient outcomes.

“We have used Martti for many years,” said Joni Vaughn at Sanford USD Medical Center. “The Martti app has given us additional options to further expand accessibility to language services in a more cost effective way and on easy-to-use tablets with which our patients and staff are already familiar.”

Healthcare providers will continue to access LAN’s certified medical interpreters via its fully secure, video-optimized private path broadband connection, the Carenection Telemedicine Delivery Network. Carenection is HIPAA-compliant and allows LAN to provide the best, most reliable video and audio quality, ensuring clear video medical interpretation at the push of a button.

“With the advent of the iPad Pro and other large high fidelity tablets, we can now provide a very high quality user experience for the patient and provider on a mobile consumer device,” explained James Edwards, CEO of LAN. “The greater screen size and enhanced audio characteristics are ideal for video medical interpretation and other telemedicine applications.”

With LAN’s new app, implementing Martti is easier than ever. LAN partner hospitals can download the free app in the Apple and Google Play stores and use it to tap into LAN’s certified video medical interpretation from any device, at any time.
