Nordea’s Annual Report and Sustainability Report published

Today Nordea publishes its Annual Report and Sustainability Report on
Nordea.com.

The Annual Report describes the activities in 2015, a challenging year with
exceptionally low and even negative interest rates, geopolitical tensions and
market turmoil. Under these market conditions we are pleased to report a three
per cent increase in the income level in local currencies and excluding one
-offs. We also delivered a reduction in costs which improved the cost to income
ratio to the all-time low level. Credit quality improved during the year to
strongest level since 2007. As a consequence the operating profit improved by
7%.

During the year digitalisation increasingly made a significant impact on our
business in Retail Banking. Our customers’ usage of online and mobile solutions
is growing rapidly, both among households and corporates.

Wholesale Banking business consolidated its position as the leading business
partner to corporates and institutions in the Nordics.

Within Wealth Management we received recognition as Nordic Private Banking was
awarded the best private bank in the Nordics by both The Banker and Euromoney.

In the coming years we will take the steps to become One Nordea – a digital,
agile, efficient and robust bank that fully capitalises on our size. This will
be a transition period for the bank where we will execute on our
transformational change agenda in order to create a truly digital bank.

As well as taking action because of digitalisation, we have also reflected on
how other megatrends such as climate change and ageing demographics affect our
business. Banks have an important role to play as enablers of economic success
in society. We have therefore identified three key focus areas for our new
sustainability ambitions: promoting sustainable economic progress, building
skills in personal finance and ensuring a diverse workforce. We present the new
strategy and the progress we made in the Sustainability Report for 2015.
