The Portland Japanese Garden Selects MediaValet; Bringing the Zen of Cloud-Based Digital Asset Management to Life

VANCOUVER, BC and PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - February 17, 2016) - MediaValet (TSX VENTURE: MVP), a leading provider of cloud-based digital asset management software (DAMS), is happy to announce that The Japanese Garden Society of Portland (The Portland Japanese Garden) has selected MediaValet's enterprise DAMS to replace their aging on-premise digital asset management system. This move will streamline the production of cultural and educational collateral for events, workshops and cultural celebrations that serve over 300,000 visitors every year.

The Portland Japanese Garden produces cultural and educational programming that expresses the timeless value of Japanese culture and art. The Society is currently in the midst of a $33.5 million expansion project to rebuild their Portland facilities to better accommodate the rising number of visitors they're experiencing each year.

The team at The Portland Japanese Garden has been carefully documenting the expansion process with extensive photo and video recordings, but very quickly realized that their ability to manage the new content as well as their existing digital assets was inhibited by their legacy system. Staff members found the aging user interface difficult to use, and they were unable to reorganize and categorize assets as needed. Even worse, time and time again, when they needed to find assets, they simply weren't able to do so in a timely and efficient manner.

Following the implementation of MediaValet, The Portland Japanese Garden's 40 staff members have been able to quickly and easily upload, search and manage their digital assets via an elegant and user-friendly user-interface. Each staff member now has their own unique permission level that allows access to specific assets and features, a vital feature due to seasonal staff turnover. Implementing MediaValet eliminated duplication of assets within the DAMS while also enhancing security, accessibility, reliability, and redundancy. Staff members can now quickly access their digital assets from any computer and the Society can rest assured that their assets are safe and secure at all times.

"The Portland Japanese Garden has a long and rich history of inspiring and educating both young and old minds alike," said David MacLaren, President and CEO of MediaValet. "The Society has taken great care in creating and maintaining an authentic, world-class Japanese garden over 7,800 kms from Japan. We feel privileged to be part of the solution that enables the Society to deliver their highly sought after educational, cultural, artistic, horticultural and environmental programs."

Sharing knowledge is at the heart of The Portland Japanese Garden's philosophy. Senior Gardener Michael Kondo says, "Tomoki Kato-san, an authority in our field, has said it takes 200 years to become an expert in Japanese gardening. What he means is that there is no way any one can learn all there is to know about Japanese gardening in their lifespan, and thus we must rely on the knowledge of others." By choosing MediaValet, The Portland Japanese Garden is ensuring that all past and future digital assets, will be preserved and available to future generations.

Built exclusively on Microsoft Azure PaaS, MediaValet is the only digital asset management system in the world that's available on 26 highly secure data centers, is hyper scalable, and delivers triple redundancy and geo-replication every client (big or small).
