FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., Feb. 17, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The David McCune International Art Gallery at Methodist University welcomes an exhibition from Auguste Rodin, one of the most well known and respected artists in the world. "Rodin: Portraits of a Lifetime: Selections from the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Foundation" includes 17 sculptures from Auguste Rodin, a 19th and early 20th century sculptor. His most famous works, including "The Thinker" are considered art treasures.

"I am confident that viewers will find this show's 17 bronze Rodin sculptures to be a stunning installation featuring works that span the artist's long career," Silvana Foti, David McCune International Art Gallery Director explained. "The exhibition includes Rodin's famous depictions of writers Victor Hugo and Honore de Balzac; of the musician Gustav Mahler, the artist Claude Lorrain and Pope Benedict XV. Also included in the show are portraits of Rodin by Edward Steichen, John Tweed and Paul Paulin."

The exhibition is available for viewing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.  Admission is free. "In other cities, you could expect to pay $20 to see such a fabulous display," said Foti.

The exhibition was made possible by the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Foundation. In addition, the exhibition received local financial assistance from the Cumberland County Tourism Development Authority and a sponsorship from Bryan Honda.
