SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Mar 1, 2016) - Coding Dojo today announced that strong growth and increasing demand for its unique three full-stack onsite and online developer training programs are prompting the coding school to open locations in Dallas, Washington D.C. and Chicago. This means that Coding Dojo will double its number of existing campuses, currently located in Los Angeles, San Jose and Seattle. Driven by demand for skilled developers, Coding Dojo saw a 300 percent increase in revenue over the past year, along with a 700 percent increase in applicants.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be one million more computing jobs than computer science graduates by 2020, a $500 billion market opportunity. Coding Dojo intends to put a dent in that knowledge gap by increasing its capacity to train 100,000 programmers in the next five years.
"There's a huge shortfall in capacity for training skilled developers, leading to both an exploding market and a serious issue for the U.S. in terms of global competition," said Coding Dojo CEO, Richard Wang. "We've created the industry's most comprehensive and intense program to meet that need, with an over 90 percent hire rate and more student applications than we can accommodate. Coding Dojo is passionate about empowering new and existing coders, so we're rapidly expanding our physical and online training bootcamps to reach as broad an audience as possible."
Coding Dojo's one-of-a-kind full-stack training gives students -- both new and continuing developers -- more extensive hands-on coding experience than typical four year universities[1], in as little as 14 weeks, and at a comparatively low cost. Those students also see placement rates and salaries on par, if not higher, than university computer science graduates[2]. While a four year degree is powerful, the market shows universities are unable to meet the near-term demand for developers, and that lack of hands-on experience is hampering student success.
As one of the largest and most effective coding bootcamps, Coding Dojo is at the forefront of the fast-growing market for developer training. To continue its growth, the company is expanding its footprint by opening a Dallas campus with the first cohort kicking off March 21, a Washington D.C. campus in June and a Chicago campus in September. Coding Dojo's downtown Dallas campus will be located at 900 Jackson Street near the convention center, and its Washington D.C. and Chicago locations will be revealed at a later date.
Coding Dojo is also expanding its flexible online program in 2016 to bring developer training into the homes of thousands. New online programs will be offered to fit the needs of experienced and new aspiring developers, and hybrid solutions in conjunction with an expanding physical presence will offer online students a unique option to come onsite.
Coding Dojo is currently self-funded with increasing year over year profitability, but will be seeking outside funding in 2016 to fuel this rapid growth.
