LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Mar 16, 2016) - Spiceworks, the professional network for IT, today announced John Webb has joined its leadership team as the company's General Manager of Europe. Webb will scale the company's existing footprint in the region and help further its mission to simplify how technology professionals do their jobs.
Spiceworks announces the new position at a time when the IT industry in Europe and abroad is experiencing significant changes. The cloud, mobile, and security segments are evolving more rapidly than ever, leaving IT professionals with an enormous opportunity to reshape how their businesses use technology to grow and scale.
In fact, according to Spiceworks' recent report, Diving into IT Cloud Services, 94 percent of organisations in EMEA use at least one cloud service today, and 32 percent expect more than half of their IT services to be cloud-based in two to three years. Additionally, the company's 2016 State of IT report found that 68 percent of IT professionals in EMEA view security as their most important IT initiative this year while 32 percent expect mobile to be an increasingly important future business objective.
"IT professionals have always been passionate about keeping up with the latest technologies and helping their organisations move forward," said John Webb, General Manager of Europe at Spiceworks. "By expanding our presence in Europe, we're able to improve how we connect IT professionals with each other and the right technology brands in the region in order to simplify how they get their jobs done."
Webb previously led the company's marketing operations in the region. As Spiceworks' first General Manager of Europe, he'll be responsible for driving the company's growth strategy in the region and exploring different expansion opportunities in surrounding geographies. Webb has spent the last 20 years leading marketing efforts, driving product strategy, and building brand awareness at companies like Samsung, Rackspace, and Yahoo!. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Lancaster University.
"We're thrilled John will be taking on this new role to help us in our efforts to provide more value to Europe's technology professionals," said Jay Hallberg, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. "John will be instrumental in defining and executing our strategy across Europe where we're committed to expanding our presence and reinventing the ways technology brands reach IT buyers."
Spiceworks expanded its office in London earlier this year and plans to add to its growing Sales and Client Services teams in the region.
