VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - March 21, 2016) - Back in Motion Rehab Inc. (Back in Motion) announced today that it won the Safe Harbour Champion Award from Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC (AMSSA). Back in Motion was one of six nominees from among 1,000 businesses, organizations and municipalities across the province participating in Safe Harbour: Respect for All, a diversity education program coordinated by AMSSA. When discussing Back in Motion's application, Kat Cureton, Safe Harbour Program Coordinator, said the selection committee was "very impressed with the depth of work you are doing in regards to diversity and inclusion - the staff education, the newsletter, the community engagement" and the fact that "all your locations have taken Safe Harbour training."
Ms. Stefanie Neth, Diversity Coordinator, says: "We're honoured to be presented with this award. Achieving Safe Harbour certification for all Back in Motion locations was my first initiative when I moved into the role of Diversity Coordinator two years ago. The training provided a fantastic opportunity for frontline staff and managers to learn the various dimensions of diversity as well as gain tools to help create an inclusive workplace."
"AMSSA's Safe Harbour Program has been an invaluable tool for staff training," says Dr. Ken Hemphill, Vice President of Human Resources. "We have a diverse workforce, and value contributions from staff with a variety of perspectives and backgrounds."
