CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - April 01, 2016) - A surge of confidence in the economy helped lift the Spectrem Investor Confidence indices in March to positive levels for the first time in 2016, Spectrem Group reported Friday in its High Net Worth Insights newsletter. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) rose 3 points to 5. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) gained 6 points to 3.
The indices have been compiled since February 2004 by Spectrem Group to measure the investment confidence and outlook of the 16.3MM households in America with more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI), and those with $1MM or more (SMICI). Spectrem is a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets. This month's survey was fielded between March 18 and March 22.
"Equity investment among Affluent investors remains flat," Spectrem President George H. Walper, Jr., observed. "But a further easing of market volatility, a strong February jobs report and low oil prices helped to lift the confidence of Affluent investors in the economy, which spurred a double-digit increase in March in the Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook."
According to the report, Affluent investors cite market conditions, the economy and the political climate to be the most serious current threats to achieving their household's financial goals.
