FUISZ Announces Smart Telephony Patent Issuance; Invention Enables Voice Call Prioritization so Smart Phones can Function Smartly

Miami, Florida, April 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Fuisz today announced the issuance of United States Patent 9,288,649 (“Smart telephony systems and methods”).    This patented system allows a phone caller to alert the recipient of the call’s priority.    Additional features allow a priority caller to force a silent phone to audibly ring, turn “on” a phone that is “off”, and the integration of priority calls with medical devices.

Dr. Richard Fuisz, an inventor on over 120 issued US patents (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Fuisz):  stated “Despite the enormous processing power of the smartphone and plethora of available smartphone utilities, the smartphone’s core calling function remains trapped in the same push-button dialing paradigm introduced in 1962. Caller ID has not solved the issue.  Present smartphones convey a psychiatric paradox upon a responsible user. The phones can be intensely irritating and occasionally need to be ignored, yet, ‘what if’ the caller is a family member or friend or business associate that may really need them? The result is love/hate relationship with the phone. Throw in a dash of guilt if one ignores the phone.”

Dr. Fuisz continued: “Call prioritization has been discussed but always with the requirement of local carriers participating and hence it’s never been adopted.   We changed this to make the smartphone itself smarter so you know the calls you need to take and those you do not need to take.   This is increasingly important in an era when the vast majority of all calls are conducted by smartphone.”

Co-Inventor Joseph Fuisz (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Fuisz) stated:  “The ‘649 patent contemplates a system architecture wherein messaging is used to pre-alert the call recipient’s phone of the call’s priority.   The result of this architecture is that these exciting, value added calling features can be deployed on smart phones through the use of an app, particularly in the case of Android® phones.    We believe this app based approach lends itself to rapid adoption, particularly in view of the necessarily viral nature of the product as it spreads among groups for which call priority is an essential feature (e.g. families, groups of friends, co-workers and the like).
