To mitigate the risk, Heartland Plastic and Hand Surgery will be offering free skin cancer screenings on Friday, May 13th. May is skin cancer awareness month. The screenings will take place at their Cape Girardeau clinic, located at 319 S. Silver Springs Rd., Suite C. Dr. David Deisher and Dr. J. Stewart Humphrey, both of whom are board certified plastic surgeons, will be performing the skin cancer screenings from 8:30 am to 12 pm for the public on a walk-in basis only.
Screenings are a patient's best chance of detecting skin cancer while it is in its early stages.
