TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 18, 2016) - The Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) announced today at Queen's Park that David Crombie has been made an Honorary Member of OPPI.
Honorary Membership is awarded by the Institute to individuals who are not planners but who have contributed significantly to planning in Ontario.
There is perhaps no other person in Ontario who has had such a longstanding and substantial impact on planning in Ontario as Mr. Crombie. By recognizing the efforts of Mr. Crombie we are acknowledging actions that reinforce the work of planners and the importance of planning for the current and future needs of our communities. The Institute also profiled at the reception the importance of planning and planners in the Province of Ontario and in support of this, the Professional Regulation efforts that are being undertaken.
OPPI is the recognized voice of the Province's planning profession. Our almost 4,500 members work in government, private practice, universities, and not-for-profit agencies in the fields of urban and rural development, community design, environmental planning, transportation, health, social services, heritage conservation, housing, and economic development. Members meet quality practice requirements and are accountable to OPPI and the public to practice ethically and to abide by a Professional Code of Practice.
