Instacart Partners With Portland's Food Front Cooperative Grocery

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - June 09, 2016) - Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, announced today a partnership with Portland's Food Front Cooperative Grocery. This partnership marks Instacart's first relationship with a cooperative in Portland. The items available for delivery include a curated selection of local, organic produce, sustainably raised meat and seafood, bulk items, and prepared foods. Beginning today, Portland residents can order from a wide variety of Food Front's prepared foods and grocery products, and have them delivered to their doorsteps in as little as one hour.

In 1972, a group of neighbors in Northwest Portland joined together to sell groceries out of a little store on 23rd avenue. Their mission was to provide their community with a place to buy good quality groceries that couldn't be found in regular supermarkets. Today, the store is owned by over 10,000 people with two locations. Instacart will be delivering from both of them.

How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.Instacart.com or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their city and store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or some scheduled time in the future) and check out. An Instacart Personal Shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart Shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.
