BOISE, ID--(Marketwired - June 22, 2016) - When high school senior, Jared Andersen was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, he had the opportunity to have his wish come true. What he did next surprised even those closest to him, he used the wish to give back to his school and community in rural Idaho.
The Lift Life Foundation -- powered by Bodybuilding.com -- and Make-A-Wish of Idaho teamed up to grant the wish of a 17-year-old cancer patient and high school student, Jared Andersen. His selfless wish was to see his crumbling high school weight room transformed into a well-equipped, safe facility.
When Make-A-Wish asked Jared what his one true wish was, he didn't ask to travel somewhere exotic, or meet a hero, but rather to fix the weight room at his high school. It was in that weight room that Jared found he could focus on something positive while going through chemotherapy. His passion for lifting helped fuel his recovery, and a year after his diagnosis, we are happy to say that Jared is in remission.
On April 21, 2016, after months of hard work, Firth High School's new weight room was revealed to an incredibly grateful community. Because of his selflessness, the Firth weight room was donated in Jared's name.
In addition to Bodybuilding.com fully funding the project, customers had the option to contribute a donation to their cart, or when they qualify for a free gift by spending $99 or more, a donation of $2 can be made in lieu of the free gift.
The Lift Life Foundation's mission is to help deserving young people have access to the tools they need to improve their fitness levels, boost their self-worth, and be setup to become their best selves in life.
Be a part of the inaugural year and help change the lives of youth across the U.S. by donating or by nominating a high school in need of a transformation.
