LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2016) - Famed Director, Producer and Writer Chris Bell, known for his hit documentaries Bigger Stronger Faster, Trophy Kids, and Prescription Thugs, has recently announced a partnership with producer Mark Matthews, and their mutual creation of Stronger Productions.
"I have admired Chris as a filmmaker since his first project in 2008, and I couldn't be prouder to begin this partnership," said Mark Matthews. "We are both very excited to work together, and develop great documentaries and films for years to come."
With their first lineup of content in progress, Stronger Productions has entered a multi-picture deal with Our House Films, and are now co-producing the documentary, Stronger. Set to capture the lives of Strongmen competitors in their pursuit to be titled the World's Strongest Man, the film will reveal the ways that these men find balance between their passion and personal life. Footage of current World's Strongest Man champion Brian Shaw has already been posted on the film's Instagram page.
"I've always been fascinated with the world of strength, and these athletes are among the most impressive men on earth," Chris Bell says. "I truly believe the film will bring new popularity to this sport and create stars out of these athletes; just like Pumping Iron did for Arnold Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilding industry, and the documentary's other featured athletes in 1977."
Aside from co-producing Stronger, Our House Films will also be funding Stronger Productions' next project, which is currently being kept under wraps; but is said to be much like Chris Bell's other intimate documentaries.
"When I first saw Prescription Thugs, I knew Chris was in the business of creating a dialogue about some of this country's greatest travesties," proclaims Jay Strommen, Chairman of Our House Films. "My team and I are proud to be a part of Chris' newest documentaries, and it is our hope that we can continue the significant endeavors his films have created."
Produced by Our House Films' Rob Hickman, Stronger Productions' Chris Bell and Mark Matthews, and Executive Produced by Our House Films' Larry Nealy, Jay Strommen, and Steve Swadling, Stronger, and the untitled project, are both scheduled to be released in 2017.
