The ground-breaking Club Connect program provides resources to elementary schools to help improve early grade reading levels, which as research has shown, bolsters high school graduation rates. “Mike and I felt the Club Connect program was another innovative platform for The Prentice School to help their students excel in ways previously unavailable,” said Laura Khouri.

The Prentice School will receive a “Reading Oasis” that will feature 440 Scholastic books, beanbag chairs, a colorful carpet that says “TIME TO READ” and a listening station where children, families and community partners can read together. In addition, every child at The Prentice School will also receive a one-year membership to United Way Club Connect, a national website featuring celebrity book readings, educational games, inspirational videos, e-books and other learning activities.
The Prentice School plans to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Reading Oasis this coming September in conjunction with its “Back to School Family Picnic.”
