MARINA DEL REY, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 21, 2016) - Guardian Circle (http://guardiancircle.com/), a new mobile personal safety platform, today announced the full release of its Guardian Circle app, available for free download in the iTunes and Google Play Store. The app uses peer-to-peer technology to connect an invited network of family, friends and neighbors to cross-communicate in real-time, improving critical response time and efficiency in both emergencies and more common help requests. Whether there's a medical emergency, car breakdown, the need to pick up a child, or a woman feeling at risk on a date, this app enables users to immediately alert their "guardian circle" for help.
The Guardian Circle app goes above and beyond the recent wave of panic button apps and gadgets, which mostly alert traditional governmental and hospital emergency contacts, who are often not in a position to offer help fastest. Guardianship, on the other hand, is a commitment to help that is secured in advance. Guardians can organize a flash response in 30 seconds, coordinating a rapid-deployment response team that can share their location with each other as well as with the user. The interface is highly intuitive, so there is no fumbling with a strange new app during a real emergency.
Other Guardian Circle features include:
- Add an unlimited amount of Guardians.
- Remove Guardians at any time.
- Stop Guarding someone at any time.
- Does not continuously track location (only when called upon with an Alert).
Guardian Circle was founded in 2016 by Mark Jeffrey, an awarding-winning serial entrepreneur with three exits, backed by tier-one investors. He saw the need for Guardian Circle when his girlfriend experienced what she thought was a stroke and was unable to call anyone for help. Mark envisioned a one-touch solution that would alert family and friends to assist in an emergency in such a way that everyone is immediately notified and brought into a common chat room, while displaying everyone's location information.
"We developed Guardian Circle based on the idea that in the time of need, those closest around you (your immediate network of family, friends, neighbors, co-workers) are better positioned to provide immediate help depending on where you are," said Guardian Circle CEO Mark Jeffrey. "Think of Guardian Circle like an Amber Alert with a social network, for everything!"
In researching the application, Jeffrey was shocked to learn that most 911 calls use antiquated technology that does not recognize geolocation. One must tell the operator where they are. With Guardian Circle, the phone does all the work and, depending on the situation, alerts one's trusted family and friends of the situation -- where it's a life-threatening emergency or simply needing a friend to walk or drive them home from an uncomfortable setting. The app, a winner of LAUNCH Festival 2016 (the world's largest startup event), is global from day one and will have profound use case scenarios in many societies where women are particularly in danger when traveling alone, such as the well-publicized rape culture in parts of India and the Middle East.
Mark's cofounder and CTO, Chris Hayes, architected one of the payment industry's first high risk Internet payment service provider platforms. Together, in Guardian Circle, they have created a platform that combines extreme ease of use with high effectiveness. Importantly, there is nothing one needs to carry other than the mobile phone most people already have with them.
