HOUSTON, TX and SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Sep 1, 2016) - Avanade today announced that it is working with Kirby Corporation (Kirby), the nation's largest domestic tank barge operator, to develop a mobile solution in support of its digital workplace journey. Built on Microsoft Azure using Xamarin, the mobile application will enable Kirby employees to access company tools and information, eliminating many manual processes and physical barriers to getting work done.
Together, Avanade and Kirby identified a mobile framework built on Microsoft Azure that would increase employee effectiveness and engagement, while helping Kirby achieve its long-term business goals. The 10-12 week project will result in an application that provides instant access to safety videos, travel schedules, messaging and more, resulting in improved employee connectedness, engagement and safety.
"Ensuring employee safety and engagement is intrinsic to Kirby's core values," said David Mosley, CIO of Kirby Corporation. "We wanted to harness Microsoft's technology and Avanade's deep enterprise expertise to provide a solution that empowers and connects employees no matter where they are."
With the most certified professionals for Microsoft Azure and as the number one Microsoft Certified Partner for deploying and administrating Azure, Avanade has driven more consumption of the cloud-based platform than any other Microsoft partner.
"A digital workplace improves employee engagement and customer service, while increasing competitive advantages," said Scott Rodgers, Avanade's senior vice president. "This mobile solution will support Kirby's values, empower its employees and help ensure their safety on a reliable platform that can scale according to the company's evolving digital needs."
