Irondale, AL, Sept. 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Join EWTN Sept. 17–18 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Ala. to honor the life and legacy of EWTN Foundress Mother Angelica, who passed away on Easter Sunday, March  27, 2016.

“This year’s EWTN Family Celebration is our first since the death of Mother Angelica and provides us with an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the extraordinary life of Mother and what she meant to her EWTN family and to the world," said EWTN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael P. Warsaw. “Our celebration will include many wonderful events throughout the weekend and I’m especially pleased that EWTN Chaplain Father Joseph Mary Wolfe, MFVA; Johnnette Benkovic (“Women of Grace”); Jim & Joy Pinto (“At Home With Jim & Joy"); Fr. Wade Menezes, CPM (“The Crux of the Matter”); and Doug Keck ("EWTN Bookmark") will join me on stage Saturday night for a special live show. We will share our memories, and answer audience questions about the nun whose faithfulness to God left a legacy of which all of us can be proud.”

As always, the weekend will be jam-packed with activities the whole family can enjoy and, best of all, they are free! Guest speakers will also include Chris Stefanick (“Real Life Catholic“), who will be interviewing the young winners of EWTN’s “Cool to be Catholic” video contest, and Raymond Arroyo (“The World Over”)

In addition, EWTN Radio will broadcast live from the Convention Complex; show hosts and friars will be available to meet-and-greet in the Family Corner; beloved EWTN authors will be on hand for book signings; and “The Donut Man” Rob Evans and Br. Leo of “Hey Brother Leo!” fame will make life exciting for children of all ages in the Kid’s Corner.

No EWTN Family Celebration would be complete without the celebration of Holy Mass. The Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word will be the celebrants on Saturday, and Bishop Robert J. Baker of Birmingham will celebrate Mass on Sunday. Of course, Confession and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament will also be available throughout the weekend.
