BLOOMINGTON, IN--(Marketwired - October 07, 2016) - Solution Tree, a premier educational publisher and professional development provider, has announced the release of its Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Facilitator's Guide DVD series.
Developed by top mathematics experts -- Juli K. Dixon, Edward C. Nolan, Thomasenia Lott Adams, Janet B. Andreasen, Guy Barmoha, Lisa A. Brooks, Erhan Selcuk Haciomeroglu, Tashana D. Howse, George J. Roy, Farshid Safi, and Jennifer M. Tobias -- this unscripted video series presents an authentic look inside real mathematics classrooms and invites educators to develop a deeper understanding of the mathematics they teach. Individual video programs offer grade-band-specific content for teachers of K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and high school.
Each DVD set includes:
• A facilitator's guide with tailored activities and strategies to reinforce participants' knowledge
• A CD with a PowerPoint presentation and an electronic facilitator's guide for ease of use
• A copy from the Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching book series
"We use video to help create a shared image of what best practices look like in the classroom setting," explained Dixon. "The teacher sees the mathematics positioned within learning progressions, understands the math very deeply, experiences it in the classroom, and knows how to respond when students don't understand."
The series offers an in-depth exploration of proven processes and practices, including teaching mathematical modeling and reasoning; applying the tasks, questions, and evidence (TQE) process; providing focused, coherent, and rigorous mathematics instruction; and much more. It can be watched as a standalone video or used with the facilitator's guide to create two half-day workshops or one full-day workshop for teams.
Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching K-2 and 3-5 are now available to order at SolutionTree.com, while Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching 6-8 and High School are available for preorder.
