LAS VEGAS, Oct. 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The nation's leading medical flight charity, Miracle Flights, performed 511 life-saving flights during September 2016. This marks the highest September flight count in the charity's three-decade history.
The nonprofit transports patients from all over the U.S, as well as all over the globe. In September 2016 alone, Miracle Flights serviced patients from 35 states and 7 countries, including Brazil, Germany and Mexico.
To-date, the charity has celebrated 103,697 flights and covered over 58 million miles. Miracle Flights has helped patients with rare and life-threatening medical conditions gain access to distant medical care for over three decades. Plane tickets are provided at no cost to the families and as many times as necessary.
Additionally, the nonprofit announced a partnership with the World Pediatric Project, funding airline travel for as many as 50 WPP pediatric surgery teams in the coming year. These teams conduct week-long missions to eight countries, providing diagnostic and surgical care for an average of 45 to 60 children during each mission.
"Miracle Flights has had a lot to celebrate these past few months," said Mark E. Brown, CEO of Miracle Flights. "In addition to our exciting new partnership with the World Pediatric Project, we continue to help more and more families every month gain access to specialized medical care. I invite everyone to help spread the word about Miracle Flights so we can continue to increase our services to families in need," he added.
