Since January of 2015, when Canadian Geographic magazine launched the National Bird Project, Canadians have become enthralled with the idea of choosing a bird to become our national emblem. Nearly 50,000 Canadians voted. Thousands wrote comments about why they believe their bird would make the best bird for Canada. At one point the chatter on social media had our debate trending number one in Canada.

The wait is just about over. Who will it be: the common loon, the snowy owl, the gray jay, the Canada goose or the black-capped chickadee? Join us at The Royal Canadian Geographical Society's Annual Fellows Dinner when the envelope will be opened and our selection revealed.
