The Car Connection's expert editors chose the Pacifica from a competitive field of nominees. Those nominees were new or fully redesigned models that achieved top scores in the site's unique "TCC Rating" system.
The 10-point TCC Rating rolls up scores given to each vehicle across categories including safety, comfort and utility, fuel economy, performance, and styling. Editors apply a price cap in all categories, except Luxury, of $50,000.
"The Pacifica isn't just the most thorough reworking of the Chrysler minivan in a generation. It's an exceptional vehicle, period," said Marty Padgett, editorial director of Internet Brands Automotive, parent company of The Car Connection, Motor Authority, and Green Car Reports.
Performance and luxury site Motor Authority named the BMW M2 as its Best Performance/Luxury Car to Buy 2017. Editors selected the winner from new or redesigned luxury/performance vehicles made available for testing. The winner is judged to have the strongest appeal to enthusiasts with acceleration, handling, styling, and features -- as well as value.
"The M2 reminds us of all the things BMW does best," said Padgett. "It's powerful, nimble, and a blast to drive, even compared to cars costing four times as much."
Green Car Reports, a destination for green cars, electric cars, fuel-efficient cars and hybrid cars, named the Chevrolet Bolt EV as its "Best Green Car to Buy 2017." Editors choose the most significant new green car made available to shoppers during the 2017 model year, taking into account new technologies, their practicality, and their impact on the environment.
"The Bolt EV is a clear, convincing step toward the future," said Padgett. "With its 238 miles of EPA-rated range, it's a practical everyday car that just happens to be electric."
