LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vanir | ASL, LLC today announced that the L.A. City Council recently approved a not-to-exceed $30 million, seven-year contract to provide Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) with project and construction management services for its $14 billion capital improvement program. Vanir | ASL is a joint venture between Vanir Construction Management, Inc. and ASL.
The period of reconsideration expired on Friday after the council voted November 2 to approve contracts with Vanir | ASL and several other firms to help manage terminal, airside, and landside projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport. Vanir | ASL will provide project, construction and design management services, stakeholder coordination, constructability review, change management and LAWA divisional support, among other requested services.
Since 2010, Vanir has provided on-call construction management support services for more than $1 billion in new and modernization projects for LAX. ASL provides program and project management services at airports across the United States, including Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.
In a committee meeting on November 1 to consider the item, Council members and LAWA staff noted that the procurement process was designed to ensure maximum participation by businesses within multiple size classifications.
“Vanir | ASL is pleased that the board of airport commissioners chose to make the inclusion of small, mid-sized, and local businesses a priority,” said Dorene Dominguez, owner and CEO of Vanir Construction Management, which qualified in the mid-sized category. “Seventy-five percent of Vanir | ASL subconsultants are certified small businesses and our culture of collaboration and inclusion is important to give Los Angeles the airport it deserves.”
