CTBC Bank Announces New Donation to USC’s Rossier School of Education

Investment in college advising will bring positive impact for over 5,800 inner-city LA students

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CTBC Bank USA today announced that the company has donated $150,000 to the USC Rossier School of Education to support the Southern California College Advising Corps (SCCAC) advisors for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) during the 2016-2017 year.

The CTBC support via the USC Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice (CERPP) will help foster the college going culture of Los Angeles high schools. The SCCAC program hires and trains advisors who help high school students apply to, attend and complete college by encouraging and assisting students with their college searches, applications, financial aid and transition to postsecondary education.

“This gift is a tangible demonstration of CTBC’s commitment to the future of our community. It will provide underserved students in Los Angeles-area high schools with the tools to realize their dreams,” said Dr. Jerry Lucido, Professor of Research and Executive Director of USC’s CERPP. “CTBC recognizes the effectiveness of the program and is now enabling us to provide it to more schools and to more students.”

“At CTBC Bank we are proud that the USC SCCAC program has already had such a great impact on thousands of now college bound LAUSD students, who otherwise may not have pursued higher education,” said Frida Bank, Executive Vice President and Head of Risk Management at CTBC Bank USA. “Community support has always been a critical pillar of the CTBC culture and USC’s program is an important investment to continue our commitment and tradition.”

This is the second substantial CTBC gift to USC Rossier School’s SCCAC college advising program. The full USC program includes 31 advisors serving 23 schools this year.

Earlier this month, the company released its CTBC Bank Survey: Philanthropy & Business, which on a national basis explored the motivating factors for personal giving by high-income individuals. A key finding of the report was that children and education were the favorite category of giving among all Americans.
