VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - December 07, 2016) - I-Minerals Inc. (
The Department of Polymer Engineering has tested several halloysite samples from worldwide sources from the halloysite portfolio of DURTEC GmbH, Neubrandenburg, Germany, and found the outstanding aspect ratio (> 20) of HALLOPURE a key contributor to the improved properties of the polymers.
Prof. Dr. Altstädt, head of the Department for Polymer Engineering stated that "it is a pleasure for us to get such a valuable filler material for our different R&D-projects and polymer-based product innovations."
The HALLOPURE product enables the Department for Polymer Engineering to tailor the properties of thermoplastic as well as thermoset polymers. In public funded projects together with prestigious partners from the industry, Prof. Altstädt and his team work on innovative products in a wide field of applications with these halloysites. The major goals of these projects are to reduce the thermal expansion coefficient, to improve the mechanical properties and improved fire retardant characteristics of the individual polymers.
Tom Conway, CEO of I-Minerals Inc. stated, "Halloysite developments, both in polymers and life sciences are really gaining traction as additional R&D is undertaken. The aspect ratio and absolute size of halloysite nanotubes makes it the preferred halloysite product for many applications. Given the rarity of quality halloysite deposits, we believe I-Minerals is well positioned to become the low cost producer of high quality halloysite."
