Coding Dojo Triples Size to Accommodate Large Demand for Developer Training

Announces new Berkeley and Orange County campuses, now has multiple locations in greater Silicon Valley and Southern California

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwired - Dec 14, 2016) - Coding Dojo, a pioneer in the coding bootcamp space, today announced plans to open Berkeley and Orange County, Calif. campuses. Between these, other recently opened locations and campus expansions, Coding Dojo's educational facilities will now occupy about 90,000 square feet at its eight campuses across the U.S. This is more than triple the combined square footage of its campuses from March 2016.

"With the opening of our Berkeley and Orange County campuses, we've made a conscious decision to 'double-down' on our most in-demand locations," said Coding Dojo CEO Richard Wang. "The greater Silicon Valley is obviously the world's top tech hotspot, and Los Angeles has the third highest average tech employee salary at more than $105,000. Given that obvious demand for talent it makes sense to have multiple campuses in these locations to train the next wave of developers."

The Orange County campus will be located at 3333 Susan St. in Costa Mesa and more than 12,000 square feet. It will be open to students starting March 20. The Berkeley campus will be located at 6001 Shellmound St. in Emeryville and more than 15,000 square feet. It will be open to students starting April 17. In the past when Coding Dojo opened new locations, those campuses were typically about 7,000 square feet; these new locations can accommodate double the students.

"There's an insatiable need for skilled developers, as documented by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projection that there will be one million more computing jobs than computer science graduates by 2020," said Coding Dojo Vice President of Marketing and Product Management Kevin Saito. "We're working hard to help bridge that gap; we doubled the number of in-person students in 2016 and are expecting to double again in 2017."

At the beginning of 2016, Coding Dojo had three campuses: Burbank and San Jose, Calif., and Seattle. Since then, it opened campuses in Chicago, Dallas and Washington, D.C., doubled the size of its San Jose location, and will double the square footage of its Burbank educational facility in February.

Prospective students can sign up to attend the new Berkeley or Orange County campuses, and the first 10 students at each location who reserve a spot will receive a $1,000 tuition discount.
