Sugarlands Distilling Company Nominates Fifty Nonprofits for MoonShare Grants

Public voting for MoonShare 2017 begins January 1

GATLINBURG, Tenn., Jan. 3, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sugarlands Distilling Company, distillers of award-winning spirits in East Tennessee, recently nominated 50 nonprofit organizations for a chance to win a $5,000 MoonShare Grant in 2017.

Beginning January 1, 2017, members of the public will have the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite nonprofit online at moonshare.org/vote.

The twelve organizations receiving the most votes before January 31 will receive a $5,000 grant from Sugarlands Distilling Co. The 2017 MoonShare Grant recipients will be announced February 3.

"We had hundreds of deserving organizations from across the country apply for the program this year, and it was not easy narrowing the field to just fifty," said Courtney DeLaura, National Director of the MoonShare. "It's encouraging to know there are so many people out there working hard to improve their communities, and we are happy to be a small part of what they do."

In addition to the monetary award, each of the twelve organizations will be assigned a "Month to Shine" on Sugarlands Distilling Company's website and social media platforms to help bring awareness to the cause of each MoonShare recipient.

MoonShare is the nationwide giveback component of Sugarlands Distilling Co. that helps nonprofit organizations positively influence their communities with MoonShare grants, fundraisers, and donations.

Since 2015, Sugarlands Distilling Company has donated more than $120,000 to deserving nonprofit organizations.
