Gallery W at American Greetings Goes Big with New Sculpture and Painting Exhibit

Cleveland, OH, April 27, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- “Think big” is advice meant to inspire impressive ideas, and that boundless mindset is perfect for experiencing the newest exhibit at Gallery W. The public art gallery located on the ground floor of the newly constructed American Greetings Creative Studios world headquarters welcomes its next show, “Splendid Dissonance: Monumental Works by George Kozmon and Loren Naji.” The exhibit will be on display from Thursday, May 4 through Friday, June 30, and the public is invited to the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 4.

Best known for his enormous paintings, which have been widely exhibited and critically acclaimed worldwide, George Kozmon explores perception, scale and symbols in his incredible landscapes.

“Gallery W has quickly become an important showcase of tremendous contemporary art,” said Kozmon. “The unique venue within American Greetings has a dual identity: Since American Greetings is a respected corporate giant, it has an institutional gravitas, while simultaneously being an incredible center of artistic, collaborative creativity. This is an exciting combination. Gallery W personifies that duality with a generous scale and beautiful space that I look forward to exhibiting in with Loren Naji. We explore different themes with different medias, but share a love for the integrity of materials, an appreciation for how scale redefines content, and a passion for visceral art-making.”

With an emphasis on adding intrinsic value to visual-art objects, Loren Naji is a celebrated conceptual painter/sculptor who is fascinated by artwork’s abilities to bring people together.

“I enjoy working with the sphere as a surface,” said Naji. “Human beings are attracted to the universal spherical form. The sphere is an integral part of our everyday lives, from marbles to basketballs, and from our bodies own cells to the earth itself. Our home the earth is being destroyed by mankind. My spherical works pay homage to our fragile home, reminding us that we need to change our ways and save our planet. I do not consider these works to be sculptures – they are paintings on a spherical surface. They are about texture, color and shapes.”
