Hockessin, Delaware, May 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This summer, discover the wonders of water in nature at Mt. Cuba Center’s first annual Summer Splash event. On July 23, visitors can come to the renowned botanical garden to cool off from the summer heat with Summer Splash’s engaging and educational activities about how nature captures, stores and uses water.
A day full of family-friendly activities—from a dragonfly discovery station, to scavenger hunts and story time, to a watershed demonstration model—will entertain children of all ages. Visitors are welcome to pack a picnic to enjoy in Mt. Cuba Center’s gardens or purchase food from an on-site food truck.
Mt. Cuba Center’s horticultural experts will be on-hand to answer questions about water-wise gardening and demonstrate take-home tips about managing water in the home landscape.
The event is free with general admission. The first 100 families will take home a free native plant. Event parking is available for free onsite at Mt. Cuba Center at 3120 Barley Mill Road, Hockessin, DE 19707. Due to the rolling terrain and mulched paths at Mt. Cuba Center, the use of wheelchairs is limited. Pets are not permitted.
Summer at Mt. Cuba Center brings with it the buzz of pollinators and vibrant flowers like fiery orange butterfly weed, yellow black-eyed Susan, towering and fragrant Joe-Pye weed and luminous Turk’s cap lily.
Other upcoming summer events at Mt. Cuba Center include Summer Nights. On Fridays in June, the gardens will stay open late and guests are invited to unwind and relax with an evening in the gardens. Visitors can explore the gardens at dusk or enjoy casual lawn games and live music. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. These events are rain or shine.
